KUALA LUMPUR – The pulsating energy of K-pop aficionados erupted in a vibrant flash mob outside the Axiata Arena, painting the city with excitement just hours before Ive’s highly anticipated concert at 7pm tonight.

More than a dozen fervent local fans showcased their exuberance through a mesmerising performance, earning cheers and applause from the already gathered crowd at the venue.

Among the throngs of fans, anticipation soared as they eagerly awaited the unveiling of Ive’s lead vocalist Liz, now flaunting an enchanting ash purple hair colour that replaced her previous all-black style.

To amplify the concert atmosphere, enthusiasts adorned the surroundings with a kaleidoscope of merchandise, ranging from trendy t-shirts and calendars to the ever-popular light sticks.

A quick browse on e-commerce site Shopee revealed that Ive’s special light stick, a must-have accessory for dedicated fans, is priced at RM242, while adorable bunny and cat cases are flying off the shelves for RM40 at the concert venue.

In an enterprising twist, a fan with the username @twicebulb on X offered discounted eye makeup services for as low as RM15, creating a buzz among concert-goers seeking to elevate their glam quotient for the evening.

Ive, celebrated for its chart-topping hits like I Am, All Night, Love Dive, Shine with Me, and Eleven, has ignited a frenzy among Malaysian fans, who are dominating social media trends with hashtags such as #IVEinKL, #SHOW_WHAT_I_HAVE_IN_KL, and #IVELiveinKL.

Since its debut in 2021, Ive’s global tour has witnessed the fervour of its dedicated fan base, starting with a spectacular concert in Seoul last October, followed by a two-day extravaganza in Yokohama last November.

Expanding its musical footprint across Southeast Asia, Ive has graced the stages of Jakarta (January 13 and 14), Bangkok (January 27), with upcoming performances scheduled in Singapore (February 24) and Taipei (March 2).

The concert, organised by Live Nation – the same production team behind the coordination of Coldplay’s iconic concert – is a prelude to the eagerly awaited Bruno Mars’ upcoming shows in Bangkok and Singapore later this year. – February 17, 2024
