KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, can add another defamation suit and a claim of RM5 million in damages to his list of legal battles.

Community Communications Department (J-Kom) assistant officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani has filed a statement of claim today against Badrul Hisham for repeatedly accusing the civil servant of being a “bad and immoral Muslim” as well as taking part in “unnatural sexual activities”.

The Bersatu man also allegedly accused Wahab of being a homosexual on his social media platform and Telegram group.

In his statement of claim filed at the high court here, Wahab contended that the oft-repeated accusations have irrevocably damaged his reputation as a civil servant, politician and Muslim.

Among others, Wahab is seeking RM5 million in damages, a public apology published for 30 days consecutively in several newspapers, the removal of videos relating to him, and a stop to republishing the defamatory statements.

Wahab had been embroiled in controversy after an indecent video supposedly featuring him and former J-Kom director-general Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff made rounds on social media.

In a joint press conference on November 17, Agus and Wahab admitted to having a video call but said the audio in the viral clip was doctored to make it sound like a lewd conversation.

The duo also said a “Mr H” who worked in J-Kom was behind the clip meant to tarnish Agus, and was the one who instructed Wahab, who is also Hulu Langat PKR Youth vice-chairman, to record the call for entrapment.

Previously, Hakim, who is director of the J-Kom education and training division, had denied blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin’s claims that he was “Mr H”, labelling the allegation as malicious and random.
