KUALA LUMPUR – Lunch plans between a husband and wife took a violent turn when the two started arguing in the car.
The 50-year-old Malaysian man abruptly stopped the vehicle by the side of the Kesas highway, facing Gravit 8, Kota Bayu Emas in Klang, and suddenly attacked his wife with a cutter.
When she finally managed to get out of the car, the 49-year-old local woman was bleeding from injuries to her neck, shoulder, hands, legs and back.
In the midst of the commotion, as members of the public tried to help her, the husband fled the scene with the car.
Based on initial information from the public, a patrol car from the Klang Selatan district police headquarters tracked down the car in Jalan Baru Nilai 34 and found the man unconscious, bloodied and locked inside.
The police had to break the window on the driver’s side to open the door while waiting for an ambulance to turn up to send him to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for treatment, as he had cut wounds on both hands.
Klang Selatan police chief Cha Hoong Fong said an emergency call was placed at 1.41pm yesterday after the woman escaped from the car.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with an instrument.
The police also urged those with information on the case to contact the Klang Selatan station at 03-3376-2222 or the nearest police station. – January 20, 2024
