IPOH – The suspect, arrested in connection with committing arson at Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham’s residence in Ayer Tawar on January 10, will be released on police bail today.
Manjung police chief Mohamed Nordin Abdullah, in a statement last night, said the man would also become a witness if needed.
“The investigation papers have been referred to the Perak deputy public prosecutor, who has given instructions to release him on police bail while the man also serves as a witness in the case if necessary,” he said.
Police also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact investigating officer Mohd Azalan Ab Karim at 019-392-7837 to assist in police investigations.
On Tuesday, police detained a man in Shah Alam and obtained a remand order to hold the 30-year-old suspect in order to conduct investigations under Section 435 of the Penal Code for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail into Ngeh’s residence.
Yesterday, the magsitrates’ court in Seri Manjung allowed police to remand the suspect for another day (until today).
In the incident last Wednesday, a Molotov cocktail was believed to have been thrown into Ngeh’s residence, resulting in a fire that destroyed one car and damaged two other cars. – January 17, 2024
