KUALA LUMPUR – Renowned Canadian pop-punk band Sum 41 is set to play a concert here in March, as part of its final tour.

The announcement was shared by local event promoter Hitman Solutions on social media today.

The much-anticipated show is scheduled to take place at the Mega Star Arena in Bukit Bintang on March 5. Tickets for the event will be available for purchase starting at 12pm on Wednesday, January 17.

The promoter conveyed a personal message from the band, stating: “Brace yourselves, Malaysians! We are making our way to KL for the Sum 41 Tour of the Setting Sun (The Final Tour). Save the date to witness history with us.”

Ticket options for the show include the free-standing Rockzone area directly in front of the stage, priced at RM249 a ticket. CAT 2 (normal seating) is available for RM299 a person, while the CAT 1 (VIP seating) area, complete with an official lanyard and card, is priced at RM349 a ticket. Fans can purchase tickets at www.hitmanlive.com.

As reported by the NME in May last year, Sum 41 announced it would disband following the conclusion of its upcoming tour dates and a final global tour.

The Canadian rock band, consisting of Deryck Whibley, Dave Baksh, Jason “Cone” McCaslin, Tom Thacker and Frank Zummo, expressed gratitude to its fans for the support throughout the band’s journey since 1996.

Sum 41’s final album, Heaven :x: Hell, is set to be released on March 29.

Reflecting on the “Heaven” half of the two-disc project, Whibley shared: “Some weird nostalgia kicked in because of the pandemic. A lot of other people were retreating to things that made them feel good in the past.”

Sum 41, originally a NOFX cover band in 1996, gained prominence with its debut album All Killer No Filler in May 2001, featuring hits like Fat Lip, In Too Deep and Motivation.

The band’s most recent album, Order In Decline, was released in 2019. – January 15, 2024
