Boycott what you can, impossible to avoid everything like using iPhones, FB: PAS man

Ahmad Fadhli Shaari reminds MPs to not make light of movement against Israel-linked brands

KUALA LUMPUR – Boycotting Israel-linked brands is according to the individual, said PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (Pasir Mas-PN).

Acknowledging that it would be impossible to boycott all brands that support Israel, Fadhli urged people to boycott in their own way.

“There are things that we cannot boycott, such as the usage of iPhones and Facebook. What we can boycott, we boycott. If you cannot boycott them all, boycott the ones that you could,” he said during his committee-level debate for the 2024 Supply Bill for the Youth and Sports Ministry today.

Fadhli also urged lawmakers against making light of the people who boycott certain products.

He was responding to a question raised by Chong Zhemin (Kampar-PH) yesterday on whether the Kelantan government would boycott Mercedes.

This came after the Mercedes-Benz Group donated  €1 million (RM5.1 million) to Israel.

“The other day you (PAS MPs) wanted to boycott the Malaysian Airlines’ food box for containing beverages from Starbucks. You boycott Starbucks and McDonald’s – don’t have double standards on this, boycott all.

“Now money has been donated to Israel, shouldn’t you stop using the Kelantan government’s Mercedes Benz vehicles?” Chong said in Parliament yesterday.

Among the brands that are caught in the current boycott movement are McDonald’s, Starbucks, KFC, Coca-Cola and Nestle. – November 21, 2023
