KUALA LUMPUR – Concertgoers are stumped over the requirements issued by organiser Live Nation Malaysia on ticket redemption ahead of Coldplay’s performance next Wednesday at Bukit Jalil National Stadium here.
In an Instagram post yesterday, among the requirements listed to collect the “Infinity” tickets were “valid identification” and “ID card”, which led to some ticket-buyers questioning the move.
“What if we bought tickets from others, why do we need to show their ICs? That’s ridiculous,” said Instagram user @smitlak in reply to the post.
Another user @eliza_ealiya echoed similar concerns: “The IC and supporting documents rule is so ridiculous. This is not a government agency. You got (the ticket), scan, and you should be allowed in.”
“If four tickets are tied to one buyer/ID, does that mean we all need to wait for that one person to enter together? It doesn’t seem right to have a copy of someone else’s ID. Please relook into this for better efficiency,” said user @hello_ting.
Others were baffled about the type of documents required to redeem tickets and what should be done if the identification information on the tickets is incorrect. During the ticket purchase, buyers are required to input their identification numbers.
“Can someone please (explain) what kind of supporting documents are required other than a copy of their IC? Help,” said user @sabrinahmadd.
“(My friends and I) bought tickets together. If we go at different timings, what documents do I need to prepare for my friends?” said user @soyccy.
User @zatysky questioned what happens if the identification number is wrongly written on the ticket.
Infinity tickets refer to a limited number of low-priced tickets released for every Coldplay show in their Music Of The Spheres World Tour, where they must be bought in pairs.
Meanwhile, Live Nation Malaysia said in the same post that Infinity e-ticket redemptions should be done at the box office or ticket counter at Axiata Arena from 12pm to 10pm on concert day.
It said identification cards should be provided for verification purposes, adding that fans without valid identification will not be able to redeem their tickets.
It added that third-party ticket holders who are representing those that are unable to attend the concert are required to prepare a copy of their identification card, driving licence or passport that matches with the name on the e-tickets as well as supporting documents for the reason of ticket handover.
At around 11am today, it posted short videos on its social media accounts including Instagram, Facebook and X, in response to concerned concertgoers.
It advised concertgoers to refrain from bringing political attributes and bags bigger than an A4-sized paper, instead they should bring their wallets, MyKads, passports, mobile phones with e-ticket screenshots, powerbank and cables, hats, and dress comfortably.
Other essentials listed were portable fans, reusable raincoats, tissues, extra masks and hand sanitisers.
“Don’ts (include) professional cameras, GoPros, laptops or tablet(s), poster or LED banners bigger than A4 (paper) size, flags, tripods, selfie-sticks, wands, cigarettes or its electronic equivalent,” according to the video.
On Instagram, the organiser clarified that there are no physical tickets for the event, e-tickets in general can only be scanned one time during entry and that tickets may be deemed invalid if scanned previously, invalid QR codes, or duplicates are detected.
It added that negligence made by ticket buyers is not the responsibility of the promoter or ticket partner, and incident reports may be filed at the box office.
It also said general e-ticket holders are to retrieve their tickets from their GoLive Account or registered email, and screenshot or download the tickets with the QR codes on mobile phones.
On November 15, Live Nation Malaysia tweeted that tickets are only valid from the authorised vendor, which is GoLive Asia.
Tickets are only valid from the authorised vendor – GoLive Asia. We would like to caution members of the public against purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers or 3rd party websites such as Viagogo, Carousel, or other similar platforms.

It cautioned members of the public against purchasing tickets from unauthorised sellers or third-party websites such as Viagogo, Carousel, or other similar platforms.
It said that by purchasing tickets through these non-authorised points of sale, buyers take on the risk that the validity of the tickets cannot be guaranteed, with no refunds possible. – November 17, 2023
