KUALA LUMPUR – Kepala Batas MP Dr Siti Mastura Mohammad has been summoned to the Bukit Aman police headquarters tomorrow to record a statement for falsely claiming that DAP leaders were related to a former communist leader.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed the appointment via WhatsApp today, stating that the PAS lawmaker is to appear before Bukit Aman’s Classified Crime Investigation Unit at 11am.

Siti Mastura was initially scheduled to have her statement recorded today.

This follows police reports lodged against her for claiming that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and his father, DAP stalwart Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, were related to long deceased Malayan Communist Party leader Chin Peng, as well as former Singapore prime minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew.

She made the claim in a speech at a PAS programme in Kemaman, Terengganu, on November 4, of which video is available. In her speech, she also alleged Guan Eng’s wife, Betty Chew, is cousins with Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

Mastura also claimed Guan Eng and his father were related to DAP Secretary-General and Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Local Government and Development Minister Nga Kor Ming, and Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.

Additionally, she “renamed” the late Singapore premier Lee as “Lim” in her speech.

Razarudin today also said that Siti Mastura is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code as well as Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.

As of 10am today, there are more than six police reports lodged over the matter, two of which are against the first time MP for her remarks.

On November 9, Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid lodged a police report against her over her failure to retract alleged slanderous statements.

On November 10, Guan Eng who is also Bagan MP, said he had initiated legal proceedings against Siti Mastura, appointing lawyer Sankara Narayan Nair as his counsel for the matter.

In the Dewan Rakyat on November 7, Siti Mastura ignored and refused to answer calls by Pakatan Harapan MPs to explain and show proof of her claims. – November 13, 2023
