KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang-PN) has pledged to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership if the unity government provides funding to develop his constituency.
In the Dewan Rakyat today, Syed Abu Hussin sought some RM30 million for the installation of street lights and the building of roads for the area comprising five sub districts and three state assembly constituencies.
He said the funds would also cover social amenities such as the upgrading of surau and toilets.
“I sincerely bring the voices of the voters and residents of Bukit Gantang to the Rural and Regional Development Minister,” the MP said.
“If the RM30 million is approved, I also want to see how far the Madani government is fair in giving out allocations… If I can obtain the funds to develop my constituency, I will give my support to Datuk Seri (Anwar Ibrahim), and the Madani government.”
Syed Abu Hussin said that Bukit Gantang is the “biggest client” of the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, for there is no urban area in his constituency.
He said 30% of the people in Bukit Gantang are farmers, 30% fishermen, and 30% are factory workers.
“(For) any matters like shopping, or officer business, the people would need to go to Taiping,” he said.
Earlier, he asked for the ministry to consider allocating RM5 million to upgrade the Giatmara training centre in Bukit Gantang, as well as RM1 million for the maintenance of 35 Department of Community Development (Kemas) kindergartens (RM30,000 each).
He also hoped that the ministry would allocate RM90,000 for three groups of young entrepreneurs, fishermen and farmers in the constituency.
Recently, four Bersatu MPs have pledged support to the Prime Minister namely Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), and Zahari Kechik (Jeli). – November 9, 2023
