KUALA LUMPUR – The two Rolex watches owned by a senior police officer were purchased with money given by his parents, said Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department.
Its director Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad said this came after the police conducted an investigation on an officer who was accused of living a life of luxury.
“The police are conducting an investigation into a senior police officer who has two Rolex watches,” he said in a statement today.
“Initial results of the probe confirmed that both watches were bought using monetary gifts from his mother and late father, who was a successful businessman.”
Azri said the department will continue its investigations.
Earlier today, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng called on the police to clarify how one of their officers had the means to purchase luxury watches, as he claimed the expenses did not match the income of a police officer.
This came after Datuk Mou Ei Leen, a police officer’s wife, claimed trial for stealing a Rolex Sky-Dweller (Model 326135) and a Rolex GMT Master-II 9 (Model 116718 LN) from her husband three years ago.
The watches were reportedly priced at RM207,000 and RM198,000. – October 14, 2023
