KUALA LUMPUR – Former PAS Ulama Council member Ahmad Dusuki Abd Rani has dropped his appeal against the high court ruling on a defamation suit involving former religious affairs minister Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

Amanah vice-president Mujahid said the Court of Appeal has also ordered Dusuki to pay RM5,000 in costs.

On May 2 this year, the Shah Alam High Court struck out Dusuki’s appeal in the defamation suit that was brought about after Mujahid’s tweet responding to Dusuki’s video about Lembaga Tabung Haji posted in February 2020.

Previously, the high court ordered Dusuki to pay Mujahid RM7,000 in costs.

On September 14 last year, the Shah Alam sessions court ruled that Mujahid’s tweet was not defamatory, as testimony during the trial proved that Tabung Haji assets were not sold to non-Muslims. – August 29, 2023
