KUALA LUMPUR – National squash player Addeen Idrakie put up a stunning performance to win the Costa North Coast Open in New South Wales, Australia yesterday.

Addeen, the tournament’s top seed, defeated Velevan Senthilkumar from India 11-8, 11-2, 11-9 in straight sets. The match lasted 35 minutes.

“It was my strategy that helped me win this tournament.

“I was very positive going into the match, and despite me winning with a 3-0 score, it was still a challenging match,” said Addeen.

Addeen’s next stop is the Tuanku Mukhriz Trophy, scheduled to take place from August 23 to 27 in Seremban, Negri Sembilan.

He will be seeded third for the event, one place higher than national champion Ivan Yuen.

Meanwhile, Malaysia almost made it a double win in Australia but Chan Yi Wen lost to India’s Tanvi Khanna.

She won the first set 11-7, but Tanvi came back to win the next three 12-10, 12-10, 11-8. – August 21, 2023
