Factory inferno engulfs Sungai Buloh industrial zone

KUALA LUMPUR – A massive fire has broken out in an industrial area near Sungai Buloh, sending a towering plume of smoke into the sky.

The blaze has affected six furniture manufacturing factories located along Jalan 71, in Kg Baru Sg Buloh.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received reports of the fire at 4:48pm, with their teams arriving on the scene at approximately 5pm.

As of the latest update, efforts to control the fire are still ongoing.

Initial information indicates that the firefighting operations involve four Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT), two Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) units, and Water Tankers (W/T), in addition to one Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT).

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported at this time.

As of press time, a TikTok livestream by @thecapalsahabathq described the rapid escalation of the ongoing fire.

Other netizens have also captured images of the fire across social media platforms, all expressing concern about the dark cloud that can be seen from kilometers away.

A Facebook user named Mohd Fahmie also shared video clips of the fire taken from higher ground, showing the height of the smoke that had exceeded levels of skyscrapers. – August 20, 2023
