KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor will declare Monday a public holiday if Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) win the election in the state.
This was announced by caretaker menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari this morning.
Following the announcement, Amirudin called on Selangor voters to vote in PH and BN candidates for progress and stability in the state.
“Tomorrow’s poll will be an important date in the history of Selangor. You (the people) will be determining the future of this state for the next five years.
“Elect a pact that has showed improvement and achievement throughout the last five years having surpassed crisis and challenges.
“Every vote from you counts. Vote for the Perpaduan pact that has been proven and tested. To Allah SWT, I surrender and extend my prayers. May we be blessed with victory and success for the sake of the people and this country, Insya-Allah,” he said.
He said this while delivering a special message to the people of Selangor with the theme of Unity for Stability and Prosperity, today.
According to him, should the PH-BN combo remain in power in Selangor, the unity government in the state will implement the five things proposed under its Tawaran Kita Selangor manifesto within the first 100 days of administration.
He said, among the offers included appreciation for working women by giving RM1,000 to 5,000 women to reduce childcare costs and implementing exemptions for tax assessment for kampung and low-cost houses
“In addition, 1,000 Selangor students will also receive Kita Selangor book vouchers worth RM 200 while the allowances of Imam, Bilal and Siak will be increased.
“Farmers, rice paddies and fishermen will also receive our Selangor Agriculture and Fisheries Incentive amounting to RM 1,000 during that period,” he said.
He explained that the confidence to implement their offer was not due to arrogance but confidence in the wisdom of Selangor voters.
“We are aware that in order to elevate Selangor and its people to a more illustrious era, it is necessary (to vote in) for an administration that is proven to be tenacious in facing challenges, efficient, agile and authoritative in steering the state government.
“In addition, (the state government must also) solve the problems faced by the people by offering solutions to the issues and challenges that will be faced,” he added. – August 11, 2023
