MACC to seek Interpol red notice for Muhyiddin’s son-in-law, lawyer: Azam

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will request that the police submit the names of two individuals, including former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law, to the Interpol red notice list.

MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki said the request will be made to put Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan and lawyer Mansor Saat on the red notice list.

He added that Adlan and Mansoor’s passports will be blacklisted if they fail to show up at MACC.

This is after MACC issued a notice for the duo to turn up to assist with an investigation involving corruption and embezzlement relating to the registration, acquisition, and possession of foreign workers’ biometric information in a ministry.

“We have also requested for their international passports to be blacklisted,” Azam told a press conference after the passing out parade for MACC officers here today.

He said the MACC had contacted the lawyers representing Adlan and Mansoor several times to get the two men to come forward, but they had yet to do so.

According to Azam, the MACC has obtained information on the whereabouts of the two men but has declined to reveal it.

He also did not rule out the possibility of calling-up Muhyiddin to help MACC’s investigation of the case, Bernama reported.

Prior to this, the MACC, in a statement, said checks with the Immigration Department found that Adlan and Mansoor left Malaysia on May 17 and 21, respectively, and there was no record of them re-entering the country.

MACC earlier said it had tried various methods to contact the two men and their lawyers, but they failed to present themselves to the MACC office.

In December 2020, it was reported that Adlan was linked with S5 Holdings Inc, one of the front-runners under the RM1.2 billion National Integrated Immigration System (NIIS) concession.

The NIIS was proposed by Muhyiddin when he was the home minister under the then Pakatan Harapan government, meant to replace the National Immigration Control System.

During a Dewan Rakyat sitting in February this year, Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong brought up the issue that led to Muhyiddin denying all allegations, saying that it was aimed at tarnishing his dignity and that of his family. – August 9, 2023
