KUALA LUMPUR – In a heartfelt gesture of support, renowned Malaysian composer and lyricist Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, popularly known as Altimet, has stepped forward to help Selangor FC during their current controversy.

The Petaling Jaya-born artist has pledged to donate half of his intellectual property royalty collection this year to assist The Red Giants in paying their RM100,000 fine, imposed by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) today.

The 45-year-old Lembah Jaya assemblyman, an ardent supporter of Selangor FC, briefly announced his decision on Twitter, stating his willingness to contribute financially if the club is open to the assistance.

“I will donate half of my intellectual property royalty collection this year to help pay the fine if Selangor FC is willing,” Altimet tweeted, showing his dedication to the club.

Altimet, who has been a vocal fan of the club, produced the song Langgam Gendang Perang (War Drums) in 2022, which has become an anthem for the team’s supporters.

However, his support extends beyond financial contributions.

He was featured in the song Oh Oh Selangor by MonoloQue, released in 2020, further showcasing his long-standing connection and commitment to the club.

HIs offer comes in the wake of Selangor FC’s controversial withdrawal from the Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on May 10.

The club cited safety concerns following a series of criminal incidents, including an acid attack on winger Faisal Halim on May 5, which resulted in fourth-degree burns and a long recovery process.

In response to the withdrawal, the MFL imposed several penalties on Selangor FC, including the RM100,000 fine, a deduction of three points in the 2024-2025 Super League competition, and a mandate that their upcoming match against JDT be played without spectators. – June 25, 2024
