KUALA LUMPUR – After its short stint with local football with Petaling Jaya FC, the QNET Group is committed to remaining sustainable in the local hockey scene through the resumption of the 2024 TNB-QNET Selangor Hockey League (SHL).

The league, which returns after a five-year hiatus, is back in action from today until June 2, aiming to unearth new hockey talents in the country.

The ninth edition of the league will be held at the Pandamaran hockey stadium in Klang and will be contested in three divisions, open to all age groups.

QNET group general manager B. Puspalatha affirmed that her company will consistently contribute to the community by sponsoring sporting activities to enhance the nation’s sporting excellence.

“Supporting and developing sports has always been our motto since we ventured into this industry from the beginning. Our goal is to ensure that we stay consistent in whatever we have done over the years.

“Team sports like hockey and football have always been something that we have inclined to, whether it’s in Malaysia or any other country, as we always have this intention to help build the community and give back to them.

“That’s perhaps one of the reasons why we have worked closely with the Malaysia Hockey Confederation (MHC) and Selangor Hockey Association over the years.

“We will be sustainable with hockey, as our goal is to give exposure and elevate the standard of the local hockey scene with all the players that we have. We have a record of doing it in football, and for sure, we will continue with hockey as well.

“We have been organising this league for grassroots development, and with the support of the MHC, we will be more committed to organising more league competitions in the years to come,” said Puspalatha at the 2024 TNB-QNET Selangor Hockey League launch (SHL), here today.

At the same time, Puspalatha said that the company was always willing to assist the financial needs of the Selangor Hockey Association, citing that it had no hesitation to help SHL whenever approached for sponsorships.

QNET Group has been the main corporate sponsor aside from Tenaga Nasional Berhad for the SHL since 2015, making it one of the state hockey leagues in the country.

The group was also one of the main sponsors for the FIH Men’s World Cup last year and the prestigious Asian Champions Trophy in 2016.

It was reported that the QNET Group also sponsored MHC RM1.5 million a year for national hockey development for three years in 2020.

The QNET Group, formerly known as QuestNet and GoldQuest, is a Hong Kong-based multi-level marketing (MLM) company.

The group was founded in 1998 by Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran and Joseph Bismark.

Their products include energy, weight management, nutrition, personal care, home care, and fashion accessories on an e-commerce platform.

The group was involved in the establishment of PJ City FC, which played in the Malaysia Super League between 2019 and 2022, when the football club was known as the Malaysian Indian Football Association. – April 20, 2024
