KUALA LUMPUR – Over 265,000 Malaysians have enrolled in Human Resource Development Corp’s (HRD Corp) week-long nationwide training programme, which begins today.

The 2024 National Training Week (NTW), themed “Inspiring Malaysian Excellence through Lifelong Learning,” is running from June 24 to 30.

HRD Corp, which is under the Human Resources Ministry, is offering over 60,000 free training events and activities by over 1,300 providers, including satellite events in 10 states and e-learning courses accessible anywhere online.

The satellite events aim to bring together organisations and people from various industries and backgrounds and are in line with NTW’s five pillars to promote continued learning in life skills, future skills, creativity and innovation, finance, and sustainable development.

They include seminars on technical and vocational education and training, basic AutoCAD workshops and sports clinics.

Meanwhile, online courses – including those provided by industry giants like Microsoft, LinkedIn and Accenture, among others – will give participants a chance to gain insights into how things work within industries and help them to future-proof their careers.

NTW 2024 also emphasises equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in today’s dynamic job market, instilling a culture of lifelong learning, and fostering collaboration among industries, academia and individuals.

There are also high-impact activities like an SME empowerment seminar and the NTW mini-tech fest, featuring VIPs from HRD Corp, SME Corp and Malaysia HR Forum.

A neurodiversity-inclusion impact workshop on workplace skills and knowledge, aimed at empowering persons with disabilities, will be attended by the wife of Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail, Che Puan Mahkota Khaleeda, and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.

Events targeting industry leaders and C-suite executives are the Ministers’ Pioneering Excellence session, featuring several cabinet members who will share their experiences, and a leadership talk series featuring Bursa Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar as a platform for engagement and networking.

These include fun and educational activities like Petrosains’ Pancasains, Proton’s EV Experience, a sports clinic, a Lego competition and a book exhibition by BookXcess.

Pancasains will be a family-friendly activity involving immersive interaction with science and technology experiences while the EV Experience will showcase the technology behind electric vehicles in the Malaysian automotive industry.

The public can also get free fitness consultations, stimulate and challenge their creativity, and have a wholesome experience while being exposed to new knowledge on topics like robotics with a variety of events, especially during the final two days.

The closing ceremony will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on June 30.
