SHAH ALAM – Kelantan PKR recorded the second-highest number of new members joining the party since last year, with just a little over 2,000 fresh faces.

Speaking at PKR’s 25th-anniversary special assembly today, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that the party’s Kelantan division garnered 2,027 new members between June 24, 2023, and March 21 of this year, bringing its total to 60,356 members.

The Kelantan division came in second behind Selangor, which boasted 5,770 new members. It also outpaced the Johor division, which accrued a similar number at 1,878.

“There is an advantage in terms of (Kelantan’s) growth in recent weeks. The leap in new memberships in Kelantan is one of the highest in the nation, coming in second after Selangor,” he said in his speech at the Ideal Convention Centre today.

Despite the leap, Kelantan is in eighth place in terms of the total number of PKR members.

Selangor once again takes the crown with a whopping 344,386 members, followed by Sabah in the second spot with 185,004 members, and then Sarawak with 86,315 members.

Meanwhile, Perak has 83,688; Kedah, 68,726; Penang, 66,700; Johor, 65,160; Negri Sembilan, 53,795; Federal Territories, 42,012; Pahang, 35,746; Melaka, 30,905; Terengganu, 20,163; and Perlis, 10,256. – April 21, 2024
