KUALA LUMPUR – A disabled woman has become a victim of sexual assault, after being molested by her sister’s boyfriend.

Ampang Jaya acting police chief Nazruel Ekram Abu Saare said the sister lodged a police report on April 15 after she was informed about the incident by the victim.

“Investigations found that during the incident, the victim stumbled upon the suspect at a lift area. The suspect invited the victim for a stroll using his motorcycle, and would send her home,” he said in a statement today.

“After the stroke, the suspect invited the victim to a staircase area below her home and behind the lift. He then hugged her from the front, groped her left breast and rubbed her crotch area over her clothes, without her consent.”

On April 17, the police arrested a 38-year-old pool cleaner suspected to be involved in the case.

The police found pornographic images and videos in the suspect’s mobile phone, while further checks confirmed that he has past criminal records.

The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault.

Those contravening this section may face imprisonment of up to 10 years, fines, whipping, or any two of the punishments.

At the same time, Section 292 of the Penal Code – under possession of explicit images and videos – carries a punishment of three years’ jail time, fines, or both. – April 20, 2024
