KUALA LUMPUR – The bodyguard who was shot while on duty at Kuala Lumpur International Airport last Sunday has been wheeled into the operating theatre for major surgery after suffering serious abdominal injuries.

Muhammad Nur Hadith Zaini, 38, who was brought to Cyberjaya Hospital, had to be placed in an induced coma earlier due to his critical condition.

His wife, Siti Noraida Hassan, 38, told Scoop that he sustained injuries to his intestinal and abdominal areas after being shot.

“My husband was just brought to the operation theatre… has to undergo surgery in the intestines and stomach. The doctors also want to check his other vital organs.

“I hope he will pull through and that the operation will go smoothly. Please pray for him.”

Siti Noraida said their three children, aged between three months and 13 years, have yet to see their father and will only do so once the surgery is over.

“I’ll bring them to visit him once the surgery is completed.”

Nur Hadith was shot once when Hafizul Harawi allegedly opened fire twice at his wife, Farah Md Isa, at KLIA Terminal 1 at 1.30am on April 14.

Farah was protected by two bodyguards, including Nur Hadith, and was unscathed in the incident.

Police believe that Hafizul had personal issues with Farah prior to the attack.

Currently, he is in police custody and on the lookout for defence lawyers.

Hafizul is expected to be brought back to Kuala Lumpur today for further investigation and will arrive at the Air Operation Force Base in Subang this afternoon.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for illegal possession of guns. – April 16, 2024
