Thunderstorms, strong winds in Perak, S’gor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor this evening: MetMalaysia

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in several districts across Perak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, expected to last through this evening.

The department announced on its Facebook page that the affected areas include the districts of Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, and Batang Padang in Perak; Hulu Langat in Selangor; Jelebu, Port Dickson, Jempol, and Tampin in Negri Sembilan; Melaka; and Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, and Mersing in Johor.

“A warning is issued when a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour is imminent or expected to last for more than an hour. 

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term advisory, effective for no longer than six hours from each issuance,” the department said. – April 14, 2024
